The New East Kingdom Crowns

Here are pictures of the new East Kingdom Crowns, made by Mistress Safia al-Khansaa', and first worn by King Darius III and Queen Roxane III.  These crowns were named, "The People's Crowns" on their Coronation, September 24, 2005, A.S 40, and a new tradition was begun. When a monarch is crowned using these crowns, the entire populace joins hands, creating a neverending link, so that all may participate in the crowning of the new King and Queen.

The rampant tygers are made of cast sterling silver, and the tails curve up together to support a lapis lazuli stone at each of the six points, totalling twelve tygers on each crown. The band of each crown is etched sterling silver, with six separate panels taken from 14th century woodcuts and illuminations, depicting scenes of Medieval life. They are also decorated with gold-filled and sterling pattern wire.  The King and Queen's arms, which adorn the front of the crown, are cast bronze.  Each crown is set with numerous lapis lazuli stones.
