About Safia...

Heather Harrington Stiles is a life-long student, researcher, amateur writer, and lover of West and Central Asian clothing and culture.

She has written numerous articles on the subject, published both on the web and in historical recreation periodicals, as well as constructing many collections of reproduction historical clothing, drafting patterns, etc.

She is a member of the SCA, or Society of Creative Anachronism, an organization that studies and recreates selected aspects of pre-1600's Europe and beyond. Within that group, she known as Safia al-Khansaa', and is a companion of the Order of the Laurel, being recognized for her achievements in Middle Eastern clothing and other fine arts.

She has received two bachelor degrees in the Arts, a BFA in Studio Art, and a BA in Arts Education from Rowan University. She plans to work towards her doctorate in Islamic Arts and related studies.

Heather is also a fine artist whose work has been on view in South Jersey, Philadelphia, and New York.
